Here are some useful bookmarklets that simplifies some common tasks when playing Mafia Wars. If you have no clue what I'm talking about, read the FAQ below.

These bookmarklets do Mafia Wars actions on a user from their Facebook or Mafia Wars profile. They also work on "closed" Facebook profiles, i.e. "profile pages" of people you are not friends with – for example, if you see someone in the forum that you want to attack, rob, whatever; right-click on the person and open it up in a new tab, then, from that tab, click "Attack".

Instructions

Install the bookmarklets you want by dragging them to your bookmarks toolbar. (If you're using Internet Explorer, dragging doesn't seem to work. Instead, right-click on the link and then take "Add to favourites". You really should do yourself a favour and get Firefox or Google Chrome.)

Add to Mafia
 Use this to add a friend who also plays Mafia Wars. Visit their Facebook profile page and then click "Add to Mafia". The page should now say "Adding user with id nnn..." and then go right into Mafia Wars. Then the person should be added to your mafia, and Mafia Wars will say that the person has been added.
Switch Profile
 Use this to switch between a person's Facebook profile and their Mafia Wars profile. It also works from an "add friend"-page, such as this. However, it does not work from your own Mafia Wars profile.
Promote
 Use this to add someone to your Top Mafia.
Hitlist
 Use this to hitlist someone. It's also useful to see if the person has already been killed, without spending a stamina point.
Attack
 Use this to attack someone.
Punch
 Use this to punch someone in the face.
Rob
 Use this to open up the page where you can rob this person's properties.
Message
 Use this to send a Facebook message to someone
Gift

Use this to give a gift to someone! Brings up a menu from which to pick your gift. If you click on this from anywhere on Facebook but someone else's profile, it will use your ID – use this to generate gifting links for yourself! I'm not sure if this one works in all browsers, so if it doesn't work, try the old one here.

An alternative tool to use when you for some reason can't use bookmarklets is the Mafia Wars Gift Linker.

I've tested it on Firefox 3, Internet Explorer 7 and Google Chrome and it has worked on all. On Google Chrome the info texts don't show for some reason.
Isn't this cheating?
No. Maybe. I don't know. Come on. This is Mafia Wars, a game about killing people, stealing things and wiretapping the police, suddenly you're Mother Teresa? Come on.
But does Zynga allow it?
This is what Mafia Wars' Terms of Service says: "If you cheat on any of our games, use any hacking scripting or editing programs in Mafia Wars, violate the Mafia Wars rules or break the law, we can freeze or terminate your account, or if appropriate, report you to the police." I don't know if this one line of JavaScript counts as "hacking scripting or editing programs". Anyway, I of course take ABSOLUTELY NO responsibility for what might happen if you use it.
